Welcome to our Youth Ministry page! Our Youth Ministry provides a culturally diverse, fun and engaging place for junior and senior high students to explore their faith, fellowship with teens, while creating a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We find it important to center our ministry on experiential learning where scripture is presented to our youth in real life applications through fun activities, mission and interactive Bible lessons. Please check out all the happenings with our Youth Ministry at First United Methodist Church, Sunnyvale.
The Gathering, Sundays, 11:00am–12:00noon, Johnson Shaner Room
As a means to support spiritual growth, weekly gatherings are offered where open discussions are held regarding various topics for the Christian walk. Included and encouraged are various teen issues concerning peer pressures, family, current events, social values and how we can relate it all to the Bible. Typically, the youth will participant in our 10:30am worship and depart for The Gathering after the Children's Message.
Service Work Teams
Our youth occasionally participate in various service projects to assist individuals in our community and beyond. An example of such a project is the "Heifer Project." The church's youth perform various fund raising tasks that raise donations to fund the purchase of animals, such as cows, to assist families in various parts of the world who are in need of the basic necessities such as milk and other dairy products.
Our youth participate in numerous activities such as sharing meals together, overnighters, bowling, laser tag and special seasonal gatherings.
